Section 5: The Meeting in Review

The principal aim of this meeting was to distribute international and disciplinary 'ownership' of the CEON concept and promote its development by outlining the international and multidisciplinary scope of CEON, identifying an internal organizational structure, and devising short, mid and long term priorities for further development.

The meeting succeeded in fulfilling these aims and objectives. Although a great deal of effort is required to further develop and implement CEON, it is clear that CEON's most valuable resource - enthusiastic and optimistic people, is already well developed. With continued international cooperation and multidisciplinary involvement, the successes of CEON will enhance an increased understanding of the Arctic system and how it continues to respond to change from drivers originating both within and external to the Arctic System.
